Free-Daptive Divers Awarded Grant From Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation

Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation Quality of Life Grant Awarded to the Free-Daptive Divers, a Minnesota based non-profit Organization

The Free-Daptive Divers is proud to announce that it has been awarded $11,740 as part of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC) 2024 Direct Effect 1st Cycle Quality of Life grants. The Reeve Foundation’s National Paralysis Resource Center has several grants under the Quality-of-Life program awarding grants in different category areas, varying in different amounts. Grant funds will be used to support the organization’s adaptive scuba diving programming.

The Free-Daptive Divers, a Minnesota-based 501 (c) (3) non-profit was organized in 2016 with a Mission of “Enabling individuals with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the freedom and independence that scuba diving offers.” The organization’s adaptive scuba programming includes the Adaptive Try-Scuba program, a brief introduction to adaptive scuba diving, Dive Buddy certification training for certified divers which provides the requisite skills and knowledge to dive with those with disabilities, regional Adaptive Scuba Experience Fun Dives which offers opportunities for scuba certified adaptive individuals to scuba dive in regional locations and destination adaptive scuba experiences, offering certified divers with disabilities to dive in international locations.

Free-Daptive’s mission is achieved by a dedicated and passionate staff who provide adaptive scuba training and diving opportunities to individuals who might otherwise believe that scuba diving is unattainable due to physical or cognitive challenges. The organization works to overcome those obstacles to promote “can-do” dive opportunities.  

Free-Daptive Divers actively promote, support, fund and facilitate various scuba programs designed for those with disabilities.
