2022 FREE-DAPTIVE DIVERS GRANTS

About the Program

The Free-Daptive Divers (FDD) offer a variety of grants to assist adaptive and able-bodied divers. The first grant is a $250 grant to an individual with adaptive needs. This grant can be used to help earn an Open Water certification, a more advanced certification or acquire equipment that is adapted to the individual’s needs.

A second grant of $250 is designated for an able-bodied diver who wishes to earn their HSA Dive Buddy certification. For those already certified as Dive Masters or Instructors, the grant can be used to receive cross-over certification.

Free-Daptive Divers will also offer two grants of $400 each, to be used for a down payment on a Free-Daptive dive trip.  One grant is for an adaptive diver, and one is for an able-bodied Dive Buddy.

Who can apply

Any qualified adaptive and able-bodied divers may apply.  Specific grants are available for adaptive divers and able-bodied divers.  Able-bodied divers must already hold a current open water diver certification from a recognized certification body.  All applicants must provide Free-Daptive Divers with a Handicapped Scuba Association (HAS) approved medical consent form approved by their physician.  See official rules for more details.

Additional Information

Grants are awarded for certification, adapted equipment and travel. All grant recipients, like all diver candidates must be medically fit to dive.  If selected, grant recipients will provide Free-Daptive Divers with properly completed HSA waivers and medical forms that have been signed by a physician when necessary.  Previously certified divers must show their certification card(s) and logbook.  Refer to the grant criteria for details. Most important, you need to have a good attitude and a desire to dive!
